Marty_d Posted October 24, 2018 Posted October 24, 2018 I don't know, looks pretty swish. Anyone putting a bid in for one of the 60+ PC9's they're selling?
planedriver Posted October 24, 2018 Posted October 24, 2018 Personally, I think it looks terrible. (just my opinion). The original colour scheme is as Aussie as, and one we have all come to know and love. I wonder how much money was wasted on the design of the new livery? 2 1
Steve L Posted October 24, 2018 Posted October 24, 2018 Planey, someone probably got paid megabucks for that paint scheme which looks like it has been designed in pre school 1
planedriver Posted October 24, 2018 Posted October 24, 2018 That was my thoughts too Steve. If there's megabucks in it, i'm heading back to pre-school to train as a highly paid livery-designer:ecstatic:
old man emu Posted October 24, 2018 Posted October 24, 2018 What happened to 'see and be seen"? Those markings remind me of Dazzle camouflage - Wikipedia used on ships in WWl. I reckon it would be off-putting during close-quarters maneuvering. 1
turboplanner Posted October 24, 2018 Posted October 24, 2018 Not something even a first year design student should be doing; puts new meaning into home made.
johnm Posted October 24, 2018 Posted October 24, 2018 come on you lot - lets hear something positive I think the design will have a subliminal attraction to young recruits - the rearward triangular swish is obviously a future trend hairstyle ........................... can you please keep up with the times

In this case the Roulettes are marketing aerial views so far away that it will play no part for most people. You can't even argue that our tax dollars have been misspent, because......art is subjective. We can be reasonably sure though that we won't ever see one of these in Le Louvre.
Marty_d Posted October 25, 2018 Posted October 25, 2018 Whatever they did, there'd be admirers and detractors. It's reasonably inoffensive to my eye. Wouldn't call it "edgy" though.

CAVU Mark Posted October 28, 2018 Posted October 28, 2018 Agreed, will appeal to the youngsters who will be dissing us bluehairs in no time.
M61A1 Posted October 29, 2018 Posted October 29, 2018 come on you lot - lets hear something positiveI think the design will have a subliminal attraction to young recruits - the rearward triangular swish is obviously a future trend hairstyle ........................... can you please keep up with the times We’re not in the 80s any more, and that is a very 80s design. Having seen one in the flesh, it does nothing to enhance the lines of the aircraft. In fact the light grey of the FAC aircraft looks better.
johnm Posted October 29, 2018 Posted October 29, 2018 my comment ................ its a joke at anyone's subjectivity I think instead of triangles they should have hexagons or even circles
M61A1 Posted October 30, 2018 Posted October 30, 2018 My comments about the 80s are tongue in cheek also..... The aircraft has curvy lines similar to the PC9, and needs flowing curves to complement it, the triangles don't enhance anything. Probably some ageing AirForce officer's idea of "modern".
CAVU Mark Posted October 30, 2018 Posted October 30, 2018 I think they should send me one and I'll guarantee a satisfactory design that even one will love. It will be great. DT 1
turboplanner Posted October 30, 2018 Posted October 30, 2018 The original idea was to build excitement in kids so that when they reached the appropriate age they poured into recruiting centres. We know what we like and dislike, but do we know what 8 to 18 year olds like these days? I've had some earth shattering jolts with millenials in the past twelve months. Their ways of doing business are totally different to the ones I grew up with; some of the things they are doing work, others don't, but the ratio is much the same as it's always been. 1
Steve L Posted October 30, 2018 Posted October 30, 2018 Sure way to attract the kids Turbs .................................................. paint an Ipad on the side. That new paint scheme is unattractive, doesn't portray military and not sure if easy to see in the sky especially what these guys do. My Bulldog (ex UK RAF and original to the tee ) is still modern looking and I'm often told it stands out well. 1
octave Posted October 30, 2018 Posted October 30, 2018 I don't mind it but it will be interesting to see what it looks like in flight. https://airshowinfo.hu/airshowfeed/2017/12/15/raaf-revelaed-new-painting-roulettes-demo-team/
M61A1 Posted October 31, 2018 Posted October 31, 2018 There's one parked on the hardstand today in their normal colours. Looks much better, I think. Not my pic, but same as this. 1
