I'll wager this Canuck stroked his chin one day, and said to a mate, "Hey, why couldn't you add a rotor to an airboat, and have some proper transport, unlimited by terrain?"

 

What happens when the donk cuts out over land? Are there wheels under the floats? Or does he only fly in Manitoba, where there's a lake every kilometre?

 

Now, if he re-shaped the floats into the shape of aerofoils, he might be into even better lift performance!
