onetrack Posted December 28, 2018 Posted December 28, 2018 The mind boggles at the thought of just how many millions of dollars went into that crazy research programme.
ClintonB Posted January 1, 2019 Posted January 1, 2019 Fire works and a helicopter ride, what could be more fun.?
kasper Posted January 1, 2019 Author Posted January 1, 2019 Fire works and a helicopter ride, what could be more fun.? The parachute landing is probably the cherry on top. Bet that if anyone actually tried that and survived they would retire from helicopters.
spacesailor Posted January 2, 2019 Posted January 2, 2019 What ever happened to the SAFE helicopter the Autogyro'd to land without endangering the passenger's. spacesailor
M61A1 Posted January 2, 2019 Posted January 2, 2019 As an AirForce apprentice they showed us many films with test footage of various ideas. One of theses was helicopter ejection seats. There were three main concepts; 1. Sideways ...not so good for your neck. 2. Vertical up, with blades that departed in pairs prior to ejection...great to watch in slo-mo. 3. Downwards ejecting with gyro stabilization...these went down then shot upwards in a "J" pattern, looked like a wild ride and wouldn't want to be close to the ground.
