Chasnee Posted June 1, 2019 Posted June 1, 2019 Hello all. Have been a fan of flying since I read my first Biggles book as a kid. Life got In the way and I didn't learn to fly. A few years ago did an introductory flight in a Beech 77, vh-jis. More recently, my job a s a PC repair guy had me meeting up with some local pilots and renewed my interest. The budget doesn't allow for formal lessons but it doesn't hurt to do some informal learning, theory etc. Recently had a flight in a Tecnam and the opportunity has arisen to go up with an ex military pilot in a similar plane. Can't wait . 4
Thruster88 Posted June 1, 2019 Posted June 1, 2019 If you can join an aero club that operates RAA aircraft the cost can be as low as $85 plus the instructor per hour, it's money well spent.
Bruce Tuncks Posted June 1, 2019 Posted June 1, 2019 Chasnee, there is a demand for instrument techs who understand computers , since micro-processors are becoming common in avionics. 1
Guy s Posted June 1, 2019 Posted June 1, 2019 Hi Chas and welcome to the forum. Lismore aero is a pretty good club and instructors if down the track you get the inkling to sus out what's involve in the training side of things. Cheers Guy.
Chasnee Posted June 1, 2019 Author Posted June 1, 2019 Thanks for the warm welcome.. Will keep that advice in mind for the future.
Bruce Tuncks Posted January 19, 2023 Posted January 19, 2023 At the Adelaide Soaring Club, it's a lot more than $85. club fees and GFA fees add up to about $500 I think.... I used to pay hangar site rent too, well the wife did and she complained a bit. I ignored her complaints. But RAAus training is by volunteer instructors, so it is only the aircraft hire rate, which is ( I think ) about $100 an hour. Check them out directly. We used to have a level 4 maintenance guy at the field but he died. I reckon he kept busy, he did everything including radios and instruments. cheers and welcome.
onetrack Posted January 19, 2023 Posted January 19, 2023 Bruce, the original post was June 2019. I think the contributor has moved on. Their last forum contribution was nearly 2 years ago. 1
