Well at last I can give an account of our trip up North . We have had a few dramas on our return , my daughter badly breaking her leg and being hospitalised during our little holiday , she is recovering now , but it looks as if she will be sidelined for about 3 months minimum , but she will be ok ..

Anyway we departed Sydney on Jetstar A320 Airbus VH-VQV seats 29A and B , 45 Mins !! late due to storm activity , we were #14 in the departure sequence , so we spent a fair bit of time window gazing . I had checked out the weather forecast ( as all good pilots do ) for our departure , and right on cue the southerly arrived , we had 35 kt winds for out take off , right on the nose . As you would expect the take off roll was short !! .

Check out this cloud

We climbed out to the South before tracking over Bankstown , Richmond and then over Mudgee , St George , Emerald , Roma and then direct track to Proserpine , landing on R/W 11 , only 20 mins late after such a delayed departure . Weather on arrive was temp 29 , CAVOK and wind calm , a bit better than Sydney .

Departure from SYD . Check out the QF 737 lifting off r/w 16L

We had a great relaxing time , not anywhere near long enough unfortunately . We did have a short look at Shute Harbour Airfield . No Ultralights there on our visit although it was quite busy with inter island transfers and sight seeing trips . A beautiful little airfield , nestled in between two hills , and I would imagine a bit of a "handfull" on anything other than a calm day . We saw , Cessna Caravan floatplanes , Beaver floaties , a few helos and this lovely Tiger Moth

What a beauty !!

We did actually see some of the islands and Airlie Beach area too !! . It is a beautiful part of the World . Our third visit there now , and it certainly gets harder to return home .

Airlie Beach from the Coral Sea Resort ...

Its a Hard Life !!

All too soon it was time to get back to the real world . The flight back was aboard VH-VQK , departing Proserpine r/w 11 , and climbing to FL350 , tracking Dysart , Taroom , Tamworth , Scone and landing SYD r/w 25, 15 mins early . We have only been back 4 days and I'm already yearing to get back .

I hope you enjoy reading this post as much as I did compiling it .

Brilliant Dave, brilliant! :) Love the pics. We all know about coming back after we have been somewhere on a holiday. Reality just hits and it's back to the real-life situation. I worked on both VQV and VQK the other night mate. All on the seats you were on too!!! As I recall, we flew on both the same a/c on our trip to OOL a few months back. What a small world mate! Glad you enjoyed.
