Hi all,

I know that i have mentioned that i would like to get a cadetship before,

but i was wondering if anyone would know what im talking about and could share a little with me...

i have recently been to a careers expo in darling harbour, where i was lucky enough to find the QANTAS stand. the nice man said that the program would be undergoing changes, aparantly all for the better, but he didnt have much info.

all i really heard is that the theory will be done at a uni. he also said it may change in price, but didnt know how much...

what i thought was that maybe we would be lucky enough to have someone who might know a little of the story. obviously at my age the price is a HUGE factor, but only another obstacle that i will overcome...;)

if not is all cool, ill hang for a while and see what i pick up.

thanx.

The cadet scheme is continually undergoing changes as Qantas ( and other airlines as well) try to manage the pilot shortage that is going to hit Australian Aviation over the next few years.

If you are just starting out this a great time to commence a career in aviation, lots of jets on order and only a small number of pilots actually getting the qualifications.

I fly the A330 and I can tell you it is worth the effort and money.;)

Have a look in the Aviation Trader, there's a few advertisements for regional airlines and uni's etc. that do cadetships. Also try Googling "airline pilot cadetship" in Australia, plenty of responses other than QANTAS.

Cheers,

Matt.

I know this is a bit late but I don't really see the point of the qantas cadetship.

you have to fully pay for it yourself and even at the end you may not get a job.

unlike the Rex cadetship where they loan you 50% and take you on for (i think) 5 years.

Mate as a regular of that OTHER site PPrUne, I would strongly advise you to go peek around there at the cadetships, there is a lot of info there, some good, some great, some not so good and other useless info but read it all and be informed, they're not all what they're cracked up to be, the way things are you could be better off doing your commercial and going off to the bush for 6 mths.

Changed from "my day"; when I applied, QANTAS covered ALL training and related costs. All you had to do was accommodate yourself. (I didnt get through, but my buddy did: Now a 747 Captain)
