A pic of Singapore Airlines flight 281 overflying our place at 1805 this evening. Origin: Singapore Destination: Auckland. Shot with my 'small lens'. Contrail looked amazing in the sunset.

Thanks Chris. When I was fully into photography and had my own dark room etc I had all the gear. I have an EOS 1000F at home but have not bothered to use it of late due to it taking film. I really need to get myself a good digital. Spend over the 1K and I am sure I will get some awesome pics. Just mucking around of late. The trick is to think outside the square, use a little imagination and snap away.;)

While we're doing photos of commercial operations, here's a couple from Monday afternoon at Canberra. Afternoon weather was CAVOK but wind was 270 degrees 20-35 knots - all crosswind on runway 35...made for some very interesting approaches and landings! Photos were taken from a new double story carpark built as part of the business park at the airport, has a great view of the 35 threshold - above the security fence, so it's great for photos.

Cheers,

Matt.

Good stuff Matt ;) Keep them coming. I think I mentioned to Ian before we need an aviation enthusiasts thread in the forums but I guess it's ok to keep them under commercial aviation for now. I personally don't know where else they would go...

Some great shots happening here ;).... Here are a few " vintage " shots mostly taken on that thing they call film !! , and scanned hence the iffy quality . Really showing my age now ..

AN 124 at Richmond c1988?

On of my favourites , a rare shot of a BA Viscount , Jersey CI about 1978

Goodyear Airship N2A . RAF Cosford UK 1982 ( I flew in this one )

Pre delivery airframe Concorde , Farnborough Airshow late 70's

I lots of shots like these , mainly on slides ...Like wine they seem to get better with age .

Darren. I also have a fully equipped darkroom for B7W and also colour, havn't used it for years as the cost of chemicals and film makes it far better to use digital. Iv'e got a Nikon D50, not bad, I have Nikon film cameras and lenses. The 18-55 zoom doesnt handle flare very well but otherwise OK. A friend who had Canon bought a Pentax SLR which has image stabilisation.

You will soon save the camera cost in film savings.
