Captain Posted April 1, 2011 Posted April 1, 2011 Thrusty I have visited it twice and it is FANTASTIC. You definitely need more that one day to see it all and what stuck me is that in one display you can see part of a prop from the Wright Brothers and then walk into another hangar and touch the latest stealth machines and a Blackbird & ALL of the latest US fighters ........... and almost everything in between, including fair dinkum Space Capsuals, many or most of which can be inspected in great detail. For a flying nutt, the Wright-Patt Museum is far better than the Smithsonian, in my view, and everything is so well presented. Regards Geoff
Gnarly Gnu Posted April 2, 2011 Posted April 2, 2011 Yes well worth a visit.... I don't like Ohio much but I'd still venture back there to visit this again. Some very good guides also, typically retired air force personnel. I got some great photos standing next to the atom bomb and with the SR-71 Blackbird (the worlds greatest aircraft). The latter doesn't photograph so well being matt black & inside a hanger of course. Some nice early space program items also.
Guest Maj Millard Posted April 2, 2011 Posted April 2, 2011 It's all there isn't it ?.........................................................................................Maj...
dazza 38 Posted April 3, 2011 Posted April 3, 2011 Very nice, I have to go there. PS-Hmm- How about a Recflying Group booking, to the states..We should be able to get a discount, we could go to museums, and tie it in with Oshkosh or Sun and Fun. If we have the numbers.Just a thought.
