Guest Glenn Posted June 19, 2005 Posted June 19, 2005 Source: NASA After receiving its new External Tank in the Vehicle Assembly Building at Kennedy Space Center, Space Shuttle Discovery was rolled back out to the launch pad on Wednesday, June 15. Discovery began its 4-mile journey atop the Crawler-Transporter at 12:58 a.m. CDT Wednesday (0558 GMT), arriving safely at Launch Pad 39B at 11:17 a.m. (1617 GMT). On Friday, Shuttle technicians began installing Discovery's payloads, including NASA's Italian-built Multi-Purpose Logistics Module Raffaello. After the payload connections are completed over the weekend, workers will test the payload/orbiter interfaces. Discovery's crew for the Shuttle's Return to Flight spent the week immersed in training for its upcoming mission, conducting ascent proficiency runs and extravehicular activity training in the Neutral Buoyancy Laboratory at Johnson Space Center. The launch window for STS-114 runs from July 13 through July 31.
