TAA Matt Posted December 22, 2006 Posted December 22, 2006 On another note there is a nice italion girl flying one of
TAA Student Pilot Posted December 22, 2006 Posted December 22, 2006 I heard on the news that "It got stuck in a tree". At a minimum with a blade strike in a machine like that would be all new blades and gearbox, bad strike would be rotorhead and mast. Looking at lowest cost of repair @ $200,000. Won't take long to get back at $25,000 a day plus on top of that $12,000 an hour while it flys.
Uncle Chop Chop Posted December 24, 2006 Posted December 24, 2006 It must have happened either yesterday or on Friday as I was in Gippsland on Thursday and I seen it flying around. Big Bugger too !!!!
TAA Student Pilot Posted December 24, 2006 Posted December 24, 2006 There's about 5 Skycranes out here this year, don't know where "Elvis" was based or if it was the same machine that had the rotor strike. Every Skycrane in the world is called Elvis these days according to the press.

We have Delilah from memory, I actually saw it out infront of the RAAF hanger back when the 707 came into Sydney. I am not sure if Malcom went to Sydney, or if it went down to Victoria.
Guest Glenn Posted December 24, 2006 Posted December 24, 2006 Malcolm was in Sydney. It damaged its rotors when they struck trees at Katoomba Dam
