Wednesday April 4th on channel 7 there will be a show called "Return of the 707"

The story of the amazing rescue of Qantas's first 707 from a UK scrapyard and its subsequent multi- million dollar restoration to enable it to once again fly from the UK to Australia. The journey will take the crew to Ireland, the Canary Islands, Bermuda, the USA and Fiji and will include a special meeting with JOHN TRAVOLTA and his own restored Qantas 707.

It was great, but I thought they cut it off too soon. It left me hanging. It was also very heavily edited.

There has to be a DVD of it at some point hopefully.

I liked the old original footage. How about the barrel rolls? A..mazing!!

I think it was too short. It was a very quick hour

It was very interesting but it would have been better to see mre of the restoration process. 1 minute it shows you what it looked like before they started on it and then the next it is fully restored and doing engine tests on it. Apart from that it was very good and the old footage was excellent.

I still cant believe the Boeing Chief test Pilot doing TWO barrel rolls while flying the 707 prototype in public!! That for me was the highlight.

By the way, it wasnt your every day run of the mill RAAF 707, it was the QANTAS 707 that was in richmond today! :D

Much quieter than the ones i'm used to hearing, although still loud

What is the fate of this aircraft? Surely Qantas will not mothball it and let it rot away again (Longreach)?

Simply beautiful.

Longreach is supposed to be it's final resting place http://www.adastron.com/707/qfm/qfm.htm

What happens between now and that final flight still seems up in the air if you'll pardon the expression. there were plans for a tour of the major cities including her namesake but they had to be shelved for various reasons.
