Guest Glenn Posted March 28, 2007 Posted March 28, 2007 Wednesday April 4th on channel 7 there will be a show called "Return of the 707" The story of the amazing rescue of Qantas's first 707 from a UK scrapyard and its subsequent multi- million dollar restoration to enable it to once again fly from the UK to Australia. The journey will take the crew to Ireland, the Canary Islands, Bermuda, the USA and Fiji and will include a special meeting with JOHN TRAVOLTA and his own restored Qantas 707.
Guest Glenn Posted April 4, 2007 Posted April 4, 2007 Whatever time your TV guide says ;) Mine says 7:30 :)
Guest Chainsaw Posted April 4, 2007 Posted April 4, 2007 TAA should be VERY quiet while that's on ;) Can't wait!
Guest Chainsaw Posted April 4, 2007 Posted April 4, 2007 Do you really think I'd miss this? Just for an hour, work has to wait this time. :)
Guest David747 Posted April 4, 2007 Posted April 4, 2007 It was a great doco. I really enjoyed it. David...
Guest Chainsaw Posted April 4, 2007 Posted April 4, 2007 It was great, but I thought they cut it off too soon. It left me hanging. It was also very heavily edited. There has to be a DVD of it at some point hopefully. I liked the old original footage. How about the barrel rolls? A..mazing!!
Guest Glenn Posted April 4, 2007 Posted April 4, 2007 I think it was too short. It was a very quick hour
Guest richmondtroy Posted April 5, 2007 Posted April 5, 2007 Well guess what has just flown into Richmond RAAF base for the second time?
Uncle Chop Chop Posted April 5, 2007 Posted April 5, 2007 It was very interesting but it would have been better to see mre of the restoration process. 1 minute it shows you what it looked like before they started on it and then the next it is fully restored and doing engine tests on it. Apart from that it was very good and the old footage was excellent.
Guest Chainsaw Posted April 5, 2007 Posted April 5, 2007 I still cant believe the Boeing Chief test Pilot doing TWO barrel rolls while flying the 707 prototype in public!! That for me was the highlight.

Guest VH-TJT Posted April 6, 2007 Posted April 6, 2007 What is the fate of this aircraft? Surely Qantas will not mothball it and let it rot away again (Longreach)? Simply beautiful. TJT
Guest Steve R Posted April 6, 2007 Posted April 6, 2007 What is the fate of this aircraft? Surely Qantas will not mothball it and let it rot away again (Longreach)?TJT Longreach is supposed to be it's final resting place http://www.adastron.com/707/qfm/qfm.htm What happens between now and that final flight still seems up in the air if you'll pardon the expression. there were plans for a tour of the major cities including her namesake but they had to be shelved for various reasons.
TAA Matt Posted April 11, 2007 Posted April 11, 2007 Why did it have to be on when i was in the Gold Coast...any1 want to tell me what it was all about and the events in the show?
