Guest Darren Masters Posted April 30, 2007 Posted April 30, 2007 For those that have a severe case of aviationitis (like myself), I have compiled a list of aircraft overflying Sydney on a daily basis (some of them). These are the aircraft that you obviously can see the contrail behind as they pass.Routes are NZ to Asian countries and vice versa. You can normally hear them on the following freq approaching and overhead Sydney. Melb Centre: 133.500 Melb 125.000 and Brisbane Centre 128.600.Chainy, some of these flights most likely pass your neck of the woods too mate :D If you have any more (or can spot any errors which there should not be) kindly contribute below. Yes, I always track these on ACARS and run out to observe them when they are overhead.Nothing like the SQ 281 at 18.00 most nights with a nice dark blue contrail behind it after the just-set-sun!! :D Bear in mind these are times for aircraft when they are overhead my area (Penrith). Here's the list for those interested: SQ 298 CHRISTCHURCH TO SINGAPORE APPROX 11.35 AM ON MON, TUE, WED, THUR, SAT, SUN MH 130 AUCKLAND TO KL APPROX 13.50 PM ON MON,WED,THUR,FRI,SAT SQ 286 AUCKLAND TO SINGAPORE APPROX 14.50 ON MON, TUE, WED,THUR, FRI,SAT,SUN TG 990 AUCKLAND TO BANGKOK APPROX 15.00/16.00 ON MON,TUE,WED,THUR,FRI,SAT,SUN SQ 281 SINGAPORE TO AUCKLAND APPROX 18.00 ON TUE,THUR,FRI,SUN

Guest Darren Masters Posted May 7, 2007 Posted May 7, 2007 And here is SQ 298 today Christchurch to Singapore at 11.55am. Rego 9V-SVJ
Guest Chainsaw Posted May 7, 2007 Posted May 7, 2007 Karen & I were on the way back from the farm on the M4 in Sydney today (7 May) when we noticed a couple of cars in front of us using all 3 lanes, then I saw the MH130 overfly with a huge contrail. Yes, they were looking too. Damn, that meant I couldn't road rage them - it was a good reason to wander.
Guest Darren Masters Posted May 8, 2007 Posted May 8, 2007 Chainy, you are in luck my friend :D Here is a little 'souvenir' for you. This is the actual MH130 overfly you saw. I'm just off the M4. Next time, drop in!!!Rego was 9M-MRG. Enjoy! PS Does this prove I am a sick sick man when it comes to aircraft?
Guest Chainsaw Posted May 8, 2007 Posted May 8, 2007 Context Glenn, its all about seeing the contrail in its correct context (yea? cough)
Guest Darren Masters Posted May 8, 2007 Posted May 8, 2007 Ha ha ha. I need lots of things (one being a bigger lens) but yes, I like to capture the whole moment (good excuse for having a very average camera anyway). You know, on a different note, all those shots you see from the aerochute and other flying ones are via that little Kodak Easy Share cam.Not bad those yeah?
Guest Chainsaw Posted May 8, 2007 Posted May 8, 2007 The is a growing obsession with having to have the best camera, the best and sharpest image etc. I say just get the moment recorded!
Guest Darren Masters Posted May 9, 2007 Posted May 9, 2007 And Singapore 285 bright and early this morning. 9V-SMU
Guest Darren Masters Posted May 25, 2007 Posted May 25, 2007 Ok here are some more. Hopefully they are a 'little' better Glen. Nothing flash I know but here goes. They were taken today. MH 130 9M-MRC And SQ 286 9V-SPA I know they are not perfect but better than before right????
Guest Glenn Posted May 25, 2007 Posted May 25, 2007 But I can't see the passengers looking out the windows :P
Guest Darren Masters Posted May 25, 2007 Posted May 25, 2007 But I can't see the passengers looking out the windows I tell you what. When you come along for the Queens Birthday bash at my folks farm you can bring your lens and I am sure we could arrange that!
Guest Chainsaw Posted May 25, 2007 Posted May 25, 2007 Yea much better Darren :) Hey, I didn't think Cessna 172's could leave a contrail. That....is.....a 172 right? heh heh heh
Guest Darren Masters Posted May 25, 2007 Posted May 25, 2007 That....is.....a 172 right? Sure was Chainy...with a major fuel leak
Guest Darren Masters Posted October 4, 2007 Posted October 4, 2007 And SQ281 passing over our place at 1805 this evening shot with my 'little lens'. Oh well, you get the picture. Looks amazing in the sunset with the contrail.
Uncle Chop Chop Posted October 4, 2007 Posted October 4, 2007 Fantastic Pictures People. We get alot of overflies where I am but that is right under the flight path for Rwy 34. Some decent heavies sometimes.
Guest OzChris Posted October 4, 2007 Posted October 4, 2007 Looks like they have the after burners on  great shot!
Guest Glenn Posted October 4, 2007 Posted October 4, 2007 shot with my 'little lens'. hahaha too funny
