Guest Chainsaw Posted May 14, 2007 Posted May 14, 2007 Please vote and in a post, give some reasons why. Chainy :)
Guest Glenn Posted May 14, 2007 Posted May 14, 2007 From that list it would be the Mustang followed by the Spitfire. I also like the Corsair and Boomerang. The sound of the Boomerang has to be heard to appreciate how she whistles when flying past. Get to Temora to see it Out of those it would be the Mustang I would buy if I could. Can't put into words why though. But all planes are good.
Guest vh-tqp Posted May 14, 2007 Posted May 14, 2007 Wot, no fiats? If you're going to specify the D model of the FW190, and the G model of the 109, shouldn't you also specify the mk of the spitfire and the model of the 'stang?? Hard to pick a winner, but for grace...the spit something i don't want on my tail... 262 or the 190 best cranked wing...corsair evil...109 looks...bubble canopy mustang banzai... zero not interested...hellcat and the winner is the mosquito (ok, this is a single engine contest
Guest David C Posted May 19, 2007 Posted May 19, 2007 The Spit for me ... It looked great with those elliptical wings , sounded fantastic , but lets face it , as a Pom what else would you expect me to vote for !!! ..
Guest Chainsaw Posted May 19, 2007 Posted May 19, 2007 Well I have to say that until recently, I always loved the Corsair F4U the most, but I think I have finally settled on the Mess 109G. They sounded unreal, I love the compact and balanced look. I suppose I'd better vote then :)
Guest TonyNBL Posted December 4, 2007 Posted December 4, 2007 The Spitfire for me is in first place. Having been raised by an ex Spitfire pilot, who fought in both the desert and jungle with this beautiful aircraft my fathers stories of the capabilities of the Mk9 spit just blow the others away.

Guest TonyNBL Posted December 4, 2007 Posted December 4, 2007 You got it. The last Spit I saw flying was Col Pey's when he dug a wheel in a hole at Richmond RAAF Base a few years ago.
Guest rrudd Posted December 24, 2007 Posted December 24, 2007 Can't vote.!! P39 Airacobra not listed. Mr Bell's techo innovation the 'Flying Cannon',or 'The Iron Dog', might not have been the ubeaut, hi alititude interceptor but it served throughout the War in all theaters. Half the production went to Russia and they loved 'em. And at low level they could mix it with the best. Had the armament weight been cut back to allow a turbo charger it would have had a more stellar career. Chucky reckoned it was the nicest a/c for aerobatics he ever flew... and he'd flown some. Read "Nanette" by Edwards Park and you'll see what I mean.
