Guest Darren Masters
Hello all. Well there it goes, another Airshows Downunder event over and done with. Narromine Airfield Western NSW 28th-30th September 2007. Not quite the turn out that one would have hoped for. This event certainly could not be compared with our NATFLY annual Easter Recreational Aviation pilgrimage but none the less some attendees did impress. From Tiger Moths to balloons and even a broken down Albatros (stuck in Dubbo) there was something for everyone. I found the problem was that a few of the aerial displays were just way too short. That and bad PA audio and lack of anyone knowing anything on our arrival on Friday made for an interesting show. Pip Borrmans Zivko Edge 540 put on an impressive short display full of smoke. Pip had some problems with his PA as he normally gives an inflight commentary throughout his display but during the first display it was not working. That issue was sorted with his second short display. Mate Paul Andronicou however did impress with his aerobatic display in his 300HP EXTRA-FLUGZEUGBAU 300S. A truly talented aerobatic pilot! Then we had formation flying of the Tiger Moths, some glider displays and even a Jabiru formation from Murray Bridge in SA. Those fellas did well not to clip wings in the testing hot, windy conditions! There was also what they called a mass parachute drop (with 2 parachutes), the Connie from HARS doing a display (most impressive). She ought to burning 600L per hr per 55L 18 cylinder engine! On Saturday evening there was a display of balloons igniting their burners simultaneously in the night sky. This was quite impressive. Talking to the balloon pilots after their mass consumption of red plonk was also an interesting experience :D All in all we got to see a variety of machines, enjoy the awesome company of our good friends from all over the nation and enjoy the aroma of what we like to call Eau De Kero! Was good to catch up with some of you and put a face to the name(s). Below are some pics from the weekend. I will have more pics and video on my web site shortly for all of you to enjoy. Guest Glenn
Hope you don't mind me posting here Darren. Great pics BTW I agree that there wasn't a huge turnout of people on the Saturday that I was there. Also I thought the displays were quite short, except for the Connie. The just over 2 hour drive from Cowra got me there sometime between 9:00 and 9:30. Met up with Darren and later when the air display was on we went across a paddock to be close to the flight line. Proved to be a good place to go. I got to step aboard the Connie and see her fly later that day and was not disappointed. Here are just a few photos at the moment. I'll be putting a few into a special category in the gallery. Going to take a while to sort through these photos. Smoke rings

Guest Glenn
You have 2 years to plan for it. Lets hope next years is better with more people and the displays are actually as advertised.

Guest Darren Masters
Hope you don't mind me posting here Darren. Great pics BTW Mate, your forums and besides, your pics give me goose bumps. They are great! Thanks for sharing them. I will upload most of mine on here too when I get the chance. Maybe tomorrow afternoon into the gallery. I have to edit the video and that could take me a few days. Agreed with what you say about better planning for the next one, having what was described in the program and generally just be a little more organised. One and only other little annoyance, stop charging for every single little thing. I personally thought that the $20 entry should have covered walking in to see the Wright Flyer, things like that. The HARS project fair enough as they have put a sh$! load of effort and money into it but the other things should be admission price. I also thought joyflights $60 for 15min in that Cessna twin was a bit steep. Would love to see rotary joyflights for the next one. Anyway, enough of that. It's always good just to catch up with the other guys and yourself Glenn. We should all do it more often. You will probably see me for the Cowra one. I might pitch a tent in your yard! Chris, the weather was good mate. Most hot but the wind was quite consistent the whole weekend and showed no signs of letting up. I think most of us pilots/enthusiasts hate wind for obvious reasons  Thanks all for the comments re the pics. Below are some more of my favourites I took of the weekend. Enjoy! Connie, again. Navy Sea Hawk. Micks Dova Skylark from QLD Albatros shots. Some more Connie.
Guest Glenn
Mate, your forums and besides, your pics give me goose bumps. They are great! Didn't want to hijack your topic. Thanks for the comments. You know only about 10% turned out any good. Will be upgrading to decent glass next year. When was the Albatross there? The Wright Flyer I saw 2 years ago so wasn't going to pay to see it again. Besides I thought they were going to get it out of the hangar. Can't wait to see your video. From the quick bit you showed me it should come out pretty good. Apart from some clicking sounds I heard :?
Guest Darren Masters
No worries Glenn. The Albatros was there on the Friday through the day and I think took off just before you arrived, never to come back mind you. Yes, there will be quite a few clicking sounds in the video with your camera in the background but that's ok mate. Might put some music in there!
