Well, the Lethbridge micro/mini/tiny/little Fly-in was a huge success!

There were 2 a/c in the 'convoy'. In the Jabiru, we had Chris and Kerry, and in the Cessna 152 we had Chris and Terry!

Surprisingly, there wasn't any confusion as to which Chris flew with Terry, and which one flew with Kerry!

The day almost didn't happen, with the weather looking rather suspect early on, but decisions were made by both PIC's that it was passable for the short flights involved. Add to that the fact that the Jab had trouble getting out of bed this morning and didn't want to start.

David had not flown to Barwon Heads before, and as luck would have it, he was forced to use runway 26. Was basically a baptism of fire, as 26 is rather short, at about 420m from memory, and has a fairly steep uphill slope.

Terry and I refer to it as the driveway!

Needless to say, he handled it very well, until he had to figure out where to get off the runway!

After a quick bathroom break, and we'd fuelled up the 152, it was back in the cockpit for the short trip to Lethbridge.

The Jabi departed first, due to the faster speed it had over the C152. We arrived at lethbridge about 17 minutes after departure, to a fairly stiff crosswind, but nothing either PIC couldn't handle.

After tying down the a/c, we had a quick chat to the very friendly crew already cooking our lunch, before heading inside for a hot cup of joe, and to get out of the wind.

The clubhouse at Lethbridge is spacious, and warm, and the smell of lunch cooking was great! $5 saw us filled with sausages, meat patties, mashed potato, mixed veges, dim sims, party pies and onions! Excellent value, and a great feed! Big thanks to the crew at Lethbridge! Hopefully we'll get some of them here on Straight and Level once a few of them see the flyer we left with Steve. Another friendly local of Lethbridge.

After lunch we had a leisurly stroll around 2 of the hangars, before realising time had run out, and both a/c were due back at their home bases. No problem though, as now we have an excuse to go back to Lethbridge! There's at least 4 more hangars to nose though!

Rumour has it there are over 70 a/c housed there, and from what we saw in just 2 of them, I think it may be a conservative figure.

A great day had by all, and a big tick next to Lethbridge as our first destination for a Straight and Level Down Under Fly In!

Hopefully next time, I'll be able to do the flying myself, and let Terry or someone else do the navigating!
