Guest g_i_jack029 Posted March 17, 2008 Posted March 17, 2008 Oh man, i got a cool podcast, actually a vidcast, it's called "University Of North Dakota aerospace" it's like a Uni aircraft training school, anyway it shows you how to do certain manouvres eg. commercial steep turns, commercial chandelles, commercial steep spirals and more. I thought it might be useful to some of you pilots, or it might not. oh well, i thought it look pretty good
Guest OzChris Posted March 17, 2008 Posted March 17, 2008 Jack - Im sorry for my ignorance, but what is a 'podcast'? I have an ipod, is it similar to that?
Guest g_i_jack029 Posted March 17, 2008 Posted March 17, 2008 It's Ok Chris, i've had a few people PM me about what podcasts are, so here is the best explaination i can give Ok, a Podcast is a recording of someone talking about something eg. news, they crap on about news. The podcasts i listen to are ones about aviation (of course) they mainly talk about aviation news, new aircraft that are coming out, some are student pilots talking about getting their licences eg. today we did S turns They really are great, i encourage you to listen to them! a good normal podcast should go 4 about 20-30 minutes some can go for 1 hour or more If you have a Ipod, you're in luck. The way to do it with Ipods is to go onto the itunes store (a program you can download, links to the net, contains music, audiobooks and podcasts) podcasts are free, you go to the search bar up the top of the itunes store and search: aviation, pilot, aircraft. what ever you want. it will come up with a list. go to the 1 which has podcasts as the heading. click on show all, it will come up with a range of podcasts click on 1, it will give you a brief explination (unlike me answering your Question) you can click subscribe or select only one (or how many you want) for download. Ok, RSS (Really Simple Syndication) That i'm not too sure about, you go to the podcast website and there should (should) be a RSS sign, usually orange and has a circle at the bottom left corner of the icon with little sound wave thingys ) click on that and you should be able to download the podcasts http://www.planemadness.com a guy who talks about aviation likes to add humour to his casts, very good podcast, i like him http://www.pilotcast.com (sorry Tim E, wrong address i gave you last time) with pilot kent, dan and mike, they are just some guys that fly but make podcasts, they go to OSHKOSH and AOPA expos and talk about them. good podcast http://www.podlounge.com.au/podcast/lea ... he-lessons A guy called Captain Rob, teaching his wife and son to fly. They go through most the ground school. they've got a couple of video casts http://www.studentpilottraining.com this guy talks about student pilot training (good for memory boosters) he has stopped producing podcasts i think, but the 15 he has out are good! Thats just a few i listen to you can download anything like that, cars, cooking, computers, anything people! [ame=http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Media_RSS]http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Media_RSS[/ame] that's a tiny bit about RSS They really are great!!! Hope that Explains it for you guys and girls
