Guest Darren Masters Posted May 8, 2008 Posted May 8, 2008 Hey guys. Check this link out: http://www.overdownunder.com.au/ Jerry is flying around Australia in his Aerochute. All for a great cause, depression. He left Tooradin in VIC on Sunday morning. He will be staying with Emma and I during leg 10 landing at The Oaks and overnighting. If you can help him in any way, check out his web site. Whether this is a donation or ground support, contact him. Depression affects many people. It has affected me personally so this one is 'close to home' as they say. His mission, should he complete it, will be amazing. I will have media at The Oaks during leg 10 so standby for some pics/video etc.
Guest Glenn Posted May 8, 2008 Posted May 8, 2008 Looking forward to seeing the pics. Going to be a slow trip but no one has done it before. Good on him and best of luck
Guest David C Posted May 8, 2008 Posted May 8, 2008 Good luck to him indeed =D> ... I have been keeping tabs on his progress , and will try my best to be at The Oaks for his time there ... Here is at Gundagai at the moment and making good progress . The weather is being kind to him too with only light wind . Dave C
Guest Darren Masters Posted May 9, 2008 Posted May 9, 2008 Would be good if you can make it Dave. Seven news will be there and News Ltd. I am doing the video for News Ltd so that should be up on the web same day or day later. Let's make it a gathering at The Oaks!!!
Guest OzChris Posted May 9, 2008 Posted May 9, 2008 Awesome Darren! This sounds like a great cause! As I work in the mental health industry now-a-days, it sure is great to have awareness like this brung to the issue of depression! Years ago it was all but ignored, or people with it suffered in silence a lot of the time...it is so good to have blokes like this bringing awareness for other people, especially other BLOKES. I wish him all the very best and salute his keen sense of adventure and love for life! =D> =D> =D> =D> =D> =D> =D>
Guest Darren Masters Posted May 9, 2008 Posted May 9, 2008 Due to our moronic/eccentric Oaks Airfield owner Grahame looks like The Oaks (leg 10) will be out of the question for Jerry. A quick call to Ashley at Sydney Jabiru Flying School at Hoxton Park solved that one. Looks as though Jerry will land at Hoxton Park and park there for the night on leg 10. I have let him know. Just working it all out with Ashley now. Nice when the owner of your home airfield lets you down...
Guest David C Posted May 9, 2008 Posted May 9, 2008 Sadly I have to say , "why am I not surprised " ... The owner of The Oaks never fails to surprise does he :( ...Free publicity and he shuns it !!!, ah well , at least that good natured bloke Ashley has come to the party ... Thanks Darren for being a saviour . Well done mate . =D> Dave C
Guest OzChris Posted May 10, 2008 Posted May 10, 2008 Good one Darren =D> =D> =D> Good forward and pro-active thinking mate!
Guest Darren Masters Posted May 13, 2008 Posted May 13, 2008 Well Jerry finally made it to Hoxton Park this morning. Dave and Marilyn C were there (from these forums) as well as Ashley from Sydney Jabiru Flying School (who has kindly supplied a hanger for the night) and a couple of other people. Jerry arrived at around 1020am with a real short-but-sweet landing roll. Jerry is staying with us this evening. The media has been terrible with their support of this. The Seven News director stated "This sort of thing happens all the time". What a load of crap! Jerry has made 4 records so far unassisted in an aerochute. Hopefully news.com.au will run a bit of a story with my video later today/tomorrow. Don't forget to visit his web page and give him all the support you can whether it be in the form of a donation or somewhere to rest his head for the night. Here are a few pics from this morning.
Guest Glenn Posted May 13, 2008 Posted May 13, 2008 I would certainly assist in some way if he was to come this way. It is a great cause and I wish you the best of luck. Write to Dick Smith, he'll put the wind up the news guys

Ahhh made it Welcome to Hoxton says Darren The Masters family , Marilyn and Bob Bell say welcome Dave C
Guest OzChris Posted May 13, 2008 Posted May 13, 2008 Some pretty cool shots there Dave! I love that third one with the Piper Tomahawk in the background - nice!
Guest Darren Masters Posted May 14, 2008 Posted May 14, 2008 Nice shots mate! Looks as though Jerry will be leaving from Hoxton Park early tomorrow morning (around 0700) and tracking further North, probably not stopping @ Hawkesbury. Here is an audio interview from today. http://www.zshare.net/audio/1199238390435718/
