Who are you going with?

I have mynetfone for my home phone. It is VOIP and I am mostly happy with it. Billing is a little confusing until you get used to it and sometimes when you are browsing while chatting on the phone it loses packets.

just seen that and they have wireless routers for $10 but i have heard it doesent work with satellite

I can't see why they would not work with satellite?

Does standard VoIP work over 2-way satellite? The satellite service does not provide support for external VoIP providers such as Engin, Skype, myNetPhone etc, which have not been optimised for the IPSTAR satellite environment.

same as mine. Yes, it's faster than dial-up, but not a patch on ADSL-2 of course.

What speed did you go with Robbo?

Guest Darren Masters

I usually do broadband speed tests here:

http://www.zdnet.com.au/broadband/speedtest.htm

And usually get download of 20Mbps. I'm happy with that :D :D

It is not always consistent and sometimes suffers some fade. Neighbours can be on the same box and therefore the speed suffers. There are boxes (you can see them above the powerlines) at set intervals and when others are sharing it with you it can slow. That, and general network traffic but all in all it works quite well. It's lightening tonight. How are you going with the satellite Robbo?

Hi Daz...

Sat is going good mate, they have given me the first month free :) I did your speed test and got this, It was raining heavy when this was done so you can expect a bit better speed in good weather.

Good stuff Robbo. You will get a little slower when there is cloud/heavy rain about. You are still 20-and-a-bit times faster than the fastest of dial-up don't forget. I thought I would post a screen shot of mine tonight just to make you jealous Lots of traffic on being a Friday night so a little slower than usual.
