Guest richmondtroy
Just drove past Richmond RAAF Base, saw an interesting line up on the tarmac. A C-17, C-5 and a KC-10 all together. Thats pretty much one of each of the USAF's heavylift aircraft. Also of interest was the 707's , now retired, but each have their engines wrapped in a blue plastic. Obviously as protection as they will still have a few flying hours left on them if they are sold. And finally Richmond RAAF base will be the landing point for the pope when he comes to Sydney. Anyone know what aircraft I should be looking out for? Thats going to be the only thing of interest for me out of this whole crazy affair. Cheers Troy

Guest richmondtroy
Just found out the pope will be landing at Richmond at around 3pm. He will be arriving and a specially chartered Alitalia 777. K Rudd and Morris (i haven't got a clue) Iemma will be meeting him on the tarmac and there will be plenty of journalists about too so i guess there will be a few helos around as well. Cops are everywhere in Richmond. Can't go 10 feet without passing a car, marked and unmarked :?
Guest Darren Masters
Just about to head out there myself for some Aerochuting. I am sure we will have to stop Aerochuting once the pope is approaching!

Guest Darren Masters
You are all too funny  Callsign was Alitalia 400. We had well and truly stopped flying by the time he arrived. Police even came into the airfield (buggered if I know how they found it) earlier in the morning and asked us to make sure we ceased flying by 12.00pm. Pope was very low on downwind leg right above the Aerochute airfield. Was very strange to see an Alitalia 777! The place was absolutely crawling with police too. Pilot advised 81 pax and 18 crew onboard.
