Guest OzChris Posted June 27, 2008 Posted June 27, 2008  @ Jack... Robbo - doesnt the Windows Vista come with its own firewall?? Or are you looking to increase the security? I have always found Norton products great.
Robbo Posted June 27, 2008 Author Posted June 27, 2008 I have heard bad reports about Norton !! I am using the Free AVG firewall and i am looking at http://www.pctools.com/firewall as a firewall I have a 3 month trial subscroption with 2007 security but dunno if i want to use it.
Guest OzChris Posted June 27, 2008 Posted June 27, 2008 Norton is fine as long as you always keep a current subscription and download the updates regularly...
Robbo Posted June 27, 2008 Author Posted June 27, 2008 GGRRRRR MY PC JUST CRASHED NOW I GOTTA DOO THE RECOVERY AND REINSTALL EVERYTHING !!!
Guest PaulR Posted June 27, 2008 Posted June 27, 2008 When I used Vista, I had ZoneAlarm Security Suite installed. It was a firewall/anti-virus/anti-adware suite. If I remember it will run in the $70-80 range.
Robbo Posted June 28, 2008 Author Posted June 28, 2008 For some reoson when i try and install zone alarm it comes up compatiability error and it wont run
Guest PaulR Posted June 28, 2008 Posted June 28, 2008 Make sure you download the correct version of ZoneAlarm. They had to put out a "special addition" when Microsoft release SP1 for Vista.
Robbo Posted June 28, 2008 Author Posted June 28, 2008 hmmm trying to find a link for the SP1 download of zone alarm
Guest PaulR Posted June 28, 2008 Posted June 28, 2008 Don't know how to help you there. The only option I used was go to the ZoneAlarm purchase site, pay, and download. It should give you version options after you fill in all your payment details. ZoneAlarm use to have a free Firewall program. I don't know if this is still available for Vista (sp1 or otherwise). If there is a compatible download, you get the download, pay for a license, and then upgrade to the suite.
