It was absolutely awesome! Made my afternoon. Finished up work at 11am today so had plenty of time to make it up there with Luke and Emma in tow. They were in formation. F111 centre and the two FA18's beside it. They came screaming through at 500' AGL. I am always impressed by the sound of that F111 :D Dump and burn is tonight.

I knew you would ask for it  I did not want to take it as I wanted to sit there and 'enjoy' it for once without filming. Yes, I am going to the dump. I will take the camera and I will point it skywards. I am not going to look through the camera though so if I get it, I get it, if not...Look forward to some video in a few hrs. Well, atleast if there is no vision there will be sound I'll do my best.

Well we went up there and waited in the freezing cold (camera in hand). 1915 came then a few minutes later one of the soldiers came up and said "Sorry folks, the dump and burn has been canceled and there is not much I can do about it". "Thanks for coming anyway". At least he had the courtesy to let us know so we were not waiting around all night in the cold. Why it was canceled? I know as much as you do. A bit of a let-down really. Wish I had videoed this afternoons fly-past.

I agree Darren, sometimes you just need to enjoy it and watch it with your eyes.

instead of:

trying to keep it focused

"oh $#!T where did it go" spending alot of time looking at blue

how full is the battery, "damn it, it's low"

better swap the lens for a nice fly over

just becomes a chore, it's much better to just enjoy it

Only compared to the enjoyment of watching a Pitts special hovering like a helicopter vertically!

Special aviation events VS Qantas overflyer

rare spectacular VS Common docile

i'm not saying that videoing or photographing at special events is bad, watching it through your own eyes is better i think

if you can sort of understand what i mean
