"Etihad 9000 i/b MEL "

An unusual flight this morning is ETD9000 from SYD to MEL . It is operated by the usual AUH-SYD aircraft and is operating back to SYD as the ETD9001 arriving back at SYD at 1330Hrs . Any ideas on this one ??? ... I have read somewhere that they are to operate AUH-MEL sometime in the future , perhaps this is a promotional flight or something ..

I actually "saw" this one on Planeplotter as it tracked South out of Sydney . A check of Sydney Airport departures and arrivals also confirmed the flight . It is indeed a promotional flight to promote the new Etihad service to Melbourne which is to be announced today , hence , this special one off flight . There is also further info here too
