I am so annoyed, Brought a new laptop a month or two ago and it has given me constant problems. The hard drive is about to die, So I moved all my 3,000+ photos, movies and documents onto my portable drive, and guess what?

THE PORTABLE HARD DRIVE DIED !!!!

Edit: I made a mistake on the amount of documents, It was 3,000+ not 18,000

Nope !!!

Sending it away tomorrow. as for the data I think its gone for good unless I have a backup DVD somewhere with some stuff on it.

I found a DVD that has backups on it until the end of June. I have lost probably 400 photos not sure if they can be recovered unless my portable hard drive will come back to life on another computer.

What a coincidence, I have just bought a new laptop and PC, had to fork out the money for both, my previous PC and laptop were quite old and almost dying on me!!!! Quite happy with my new toys... lol

Chris...

sorry for the delay mate been away on work.......

DO NOT GET ACER

Toshiba is good.... I got my Toshiba back from the repair center today and it seems to be going ok, they re-imaged the hard drive and it does not seem to be making those weird noises anymore. Must have been a corrupt recovery image, but I guess time will tell.

The best thing is I managed to find another backup DVD that had my entire photo collection on it so im happy to say I have lost no files from my dramas. I am buying a new portable drive tomorrow (if i can be bothered getting out of bed) to do all my backups can get a 1 terraybyte drive for $200. I mainly want to backup my accounts, movies, music and photos so that should do the job

MY NEXT LAPTOP WILL BE A MACINTOSH !!!
