Guest gabrielv Posted October 31, 2008 Posted October 31, 2008 I just finished my floatplane season here in Canada (Ontario) and I'm planning a winter in Australia, NZ, Fidji or anywhere it's summer. I have my CPL, Floats endorsement from one of the best school in Canada, and now 800h total time. I'd like to stay on floats, but wheels would do. I'm not sure where to start to get all the paperwork done and maybe get a job before getting in Australia. Where would be my best chances to get work at this period? Should I go in Australia first, and then meet the operators? What should I do in the first place? Thanks. Gab
Robbo Posted October 31, 2008 Posted October 31, 2008 Hi Gab I suggest just emailing various company's and see what there requirements are. Do a google search for Sydney seaplanes they may help.
Guest Darren Masters Posted November 1, 2008 Posted November 1, 2008 Hey Gab, various cadetships running in Oz at the moment for some of the regional carriers. Rex is running one at the moment: http://www.rex.com.au But be warned, the pay is absolutely horrible. I have looked into it. Still wondering what to do as they take a deduction from that salary to pay the repayments. Total package is 80K but they will pay 40K of that. Cabin crew are being payed better than some first year pilots. Also, http://www.seek.com.au or http://www.careerone.com.au advertises for pilots.
