Guest Landry99 Posted November 10, 2008 Posted November 10, 2008 Hello from California- I am researching something for a licensed, female helicopter pilot here in the US. She is hoping to find some sort of grant or scholarship to help her pay for her training, but I'm running into what is obviously the major roadblock for her: she has already completed her aviator schooling/training and has been working as a pilot for PHI for a few years (after also working as an instructor and news helicopter pilot). Do any of you know of an avenue to grants for aviators who have already completed their schooling? She is also Japanese American, so I am looking into minority-targeted grants as well. Maybe someone can clarify what I think it is I've found out: grants/scholarships are almost always awarded to individuals who are about to, or currently enrolled in flight school. I think the problem with my client is that she is basically looking for a way to repay her student loans for the work she has already finished. Thanks for any feedback and for reading this far (if you are still with me). I appreciate this site; I have had a very tricky time trying to find professionals in the field who may have some experience with this. Landry99
Guest Glenn Posted November 10, 2008 Posted November 10, 2008 Welcome to the site Landry. As this is mostly a question about training etc.. I'm moving this topic to general aviation where it may get seen more. On the subject, would it be worthwhile to contact various helicopter training schools or even CASA?
Guest Landry99 Posted November 10, 2008 Posted November 10, 2008 Thanks, Glenn. I will check into CASA. I have sent a few queries to various training schools, but have yet to get a reply. Again, thanks for the info.
Robbo Posted January 3, 2009 Posted January 3, 2009 I don't think you will have much luck finding a grant or scholarship, there scarce and usually offered to students with no license looking to get in the industry.
