Guest Capt Rex Kramer
Why are airshows in australia so second rate, its billed as an international airshow so why are we dished out the same old hornets-f-16/15 from the us and the old B-52 fly-by from a top secret location.I mean i was there i think it was 2005 and couldn't believe my eyes a B1 B lancer parked at the top end of the field, what time would it be taking off for a display flight we asked the US airforce personell,. IT WONT BE! what a big dissapointment oh well the caribou was about to take off. I know their are other jet fighters in the world other than those above, their all on YOUTUBE,its about the only way you will see them in this country. Now before everyone starts telling about our distance from the rest of the world its billed as an international airshow, how about some Malaysian Su -30 km Flankers for starters or would that offend the good old USAF.We are about to spend a lot of money with the USAF so how about something in return A F22 raptor, they will be in the pacific theatre where we get the F15/16's from for displays around the same time, its not like they are involved in any conflicts involving this aircraft. PLEASE just give us something new stop treating us like MUGS and make it worth the big dollars it takes to attend and support this airshow. Guest Darren Masters
Surely there are interesting aircraft that are not on the military front? How about the GA and rec stuff? There has to be some interesting aircraft there.
Guest Michael Coates
There will be a brand-new shiny Savage Cub down their belonging to Bruce Vickers in Lethbridge which will be on display and hopefully signing up a few pilots to do their tailwheel endorsement. When I get more information regarding the site number etc I will let you know because I'm sure he would welcome your visit to either talk about the aircraft or to talk about the additional training endorsements which are now available
Uncle Chop Chop
I wonder if any commercial aircraft will be there? Surly the A380 will be there. I tried to find a full list at http://www.airshow.net.au/avalon2009/index.html but there are many areas on that website. I have sent an E-Mail asking about the Aircraft on display. Will let you know when and if I get a reply.
Guest davidkle
Yep can't agree more, I went to Avalon in 2007 and 2005 both times flying my C182S across from Perth. I attended Oshkosh in 2007 and 2008 and wouldn't bother going to Avalon again. Too say it is second rate is being more than generous. Unless you wan't to kill a fellow aviator their is stuff all GA of interest. Save the money and save for a real airshow OSHKOSH.
