Guest Chainsaw Posted December 30, 2008 Posted December 30, 2008 Just noticed on Planeplotter this interesting route
Guest Darren Masters Posted December 31, 2008 Posted December 31, 2008 Must have been way further North than expected.
Mattie Cribb Posted December 31, 2008 Posted December 31, 2008 Dont they usually do that as they go BNE (overfly) then track down the coast i could be thinking of another route.
Guest Darren Masters Posted January 1, 2009 Posted January 1, 2009 This from somewhere else" Just watching UA 827 (LAX-MEL) N199UA hexcode A18B5D, passing Sydney on route to Melbourne and having a few GPS positioning problems jumping all over the place. Notice that a few United aircraft seem to be have the same problem. Must be the long haul over the Pacific that upsets their homing skills. Maybe this is what you have seen Chainy, ie, the aircraft are not actually there?
Guest Chainsaw Posted January 1, 2009 Posted January 1, 2009 Hey Daz, I saw that too. But I did watch it all the way to YMML and it looked right. You may note that it was following a 'correct track' too. yea, that email made me think too.

Yes, I thought you would have got that email too
Guest Chainsaw Posted January 6, 2009 Posted January 6, 2009 Coming down the same route again this morning (7 Jan 09)
Uncle Chop Chop Posted January 7, 2009 Posted January 7, 2009 There was some rough weather around Sydney today. Could they have tracked furthur west to avoid it or could they be getting more favourable tail winds on that track?
Guest Chainsaw Posted January 7, 2009 Posted January 7, 2009 Dan, various aircraft heading to Melb from the USA have been crossing the QLD coast and heading down via Parkes (PKS) all week. I think it has something to do with the jetstream in the Pacific. The weather in Syd only happened this afternoon. FYI UA827 arrives in Melb each morning.
