Tony Coles Posted January 11, 2009 Posted January 11, 2009 Hi i'm curious about the how many GA aircraft plot on the sbs screen in oz. I read somewhere that the government had paid or is paying to have ads-b fitted to all aircraft. In the uk it's just the large jets that plot on the radar screen and a few biz jets.I took the box to the usa last year and next to nothing plots there. atb Tony
Guest OzChris Posted January 11, 2009 Posted January 11, 2009 Thats right Tony - but as far as I know it has been "delayed" ADS-B will be compulsory in light GA aircraft. Even though it is fitted "free" it will still cost the aircraft owner money to maintain it - a piece of equipment that will create an environment where the pilot has his head inside the cabin more, checking a screen instead of keeping a vigil outside the cabin where their eyes should be...particularly in and around airports/circuit patterns/etc. Im not too sure when it is coming in across the board though.
