Guest Chainsaw Posted January 16, 2009 Posted January 16, 2009 1st Commercial Qantas Flight to London - 16th Jan 09 OQC has taken off and should head over my place. If so, I will get a photo.

Guest Glenn Posted January 16, 2009 Posted January 16, 2009 About time you got a photo What track did it take after your place? not over my way any chance?
Guest Chainsaw Posted January 16, 2009 Posted January 16, 2009 Parkes. QF31 asked ATC to bypass Cowra due to excessive methane activity at ground level.
Robbo Posted January 16, 2009 Posted January 16, 2009 ATC to bypass Cowra due to excessive methane activity at ground level. You been on the curry again Glenn :tongue:
Guest Glenn Posted January 16, 2009 Posted January 16, 2009 Not me, perhaps other members of the family
Guest Chainsaw Posted January 16, 2009 Posted January 16, 2009 Quite correct Robbo. It's interesting that when she lifted off she was showing as QF74. When she reached 4,000ft it changed to QF31.
Guest ads Posted January 16, 2009 Posted January 16, 2009 Why would the flight number change? Its just the way it shows up on PP, as OQC had worked QF74 earlier that morning. I've noticed it happens to quite a few international flights (eg. QF26 & 25 today) - I could explain it better if only I had a basic understanding as to how PP actually works! ie. how it picks up signals from the a/c and turns them into the visual plots and info we see is just a bit beyond me at the moment. Thanks for the photo Chainy, nice to have good weather and a clear day for the occasion!
Guest Chainsaw Posted January 17, 2009 Posted January 17, 2009 On her way to London...getting close. In fact, VH-OJN B744 QF9 and VH-OJF B744 QF1 are just ahead of her providing a nice escort. errr lots of traffic too ;)
Guest Darren Masters Posted January 17, 2009 Posted January 17, 2009 Nice capturing that Chainy. Well done
Guest Chainsaw Posted January 17, 2009 Posted January 17, 2009 And the action continues... QFA31 Saturday 17th Jan VH-OQA! I guess she won't be doing a flypast at the funeral.
Robbo Posted January 17, 2009 Posted January 17, 2009 Mr Saw Plane plotter doesn't like me :( It shows jets going over my joint but i don't see them :(
Guest Chainsaw Posted January 17, 2009 Posted January 17, 2009 Maybe Robbo has 'lost the plot' heh heh
Robbo Posted January 17, 2009 Posted January 17, 2009 Maybe Robbo has 'lost the plot' heh heh Never had it to begin with
Guest Darren Masters Posted January 17, 2009 Posted January 17, 2009 Ha ha ha  A little off the centreline are we Robbo? Chainy, I still can't believe how sharp that image is
Robbo Posted January 17, 2009 Posted January 17, 2009 Ha ha ha  A little off the centreline are we Robbo? Chainy, I still can't believe how sharp that image is Those Piano keys are distracting me I dunno what one to use as a centerline  On another note, I just got a massive tingle up my spine, A Cessna 182 flew over low on dusk and was lit up like a christmas tree. OMG it was sexy !!! I love my Job
Guest Chainsaw Posted January 17, 2009 Posted January 17, 2009 Chainy, I still can't believe how sharp that image is Thanks Daz, I know you really meant I was sharp and the photo was ok. I must say the past two days here has been amazing for spotting. If this action keeps up, I won't get any work done. It's the best spotting I have done since I left Sydney. Just great as they hand over to Melbourne Centre as I watch them go overhead (listening on my scanner). The best one for me was the B742 Dubai 008. It sounded great, even at FL30.
