Guest Chainsaw Posted January 16, 2009 Posted January 16, 2009 I'd like to know what going on here... I just heard both pilots too. One actually said United 839 Alpha! Both heading to Sydney.
nzom_pilot Posted January 16, 2009 Posted January 16, 2009 Its showing on the Sydney airport website arrivals as UA839D which makes a little more sense to me than A, but Im sure both are acceptable, to the airline. What this usually means is one is a delayed flight so gets the D or A added so as not to confuse, it with the one scheduled for that day. So I'd say 839A is yesterdays flight delayed and 839 is todays flight. Does this help?

Guest Chainsaw Posted January 17, 2009 Posted January 17, 2009 Yes I notice the 'D' on the Sydney board. UAL does have a few delayed flights out of Sydney/Melb and I have seen UA840a a few times. Ta nz
