Hey all.

I was at work today and had the chance to watch a few of the heavies fly over. 1 did attract my attention more that usual. It was a Qantas Boeing 767-300. It was around 2.36pm (time on my phone) give or take a couple of minutes, it was tracking for a Southerly approch onto Rwy 34. It was flying over Altona. The planes fly over at about 300-500 meters. It appeared that there was something whitish in colour and was covering half of the tail fin on the right hand side (and no it wasn't the roo, it covered that too). Didn't catch the rego and didn't get a photo.

My work is a great place to watch the early morning heavy arrivals. Unfortuantly no photographic equipment is allowed on site.

Any info on this flight and what the white thing was would be greatly appreciated.

I have attached a very rough example from a shot of a 767 that I too ages ago.

Maybe just paint peeling off Chop or a replacement panel that has not been painted yet? Can't say I have seen this 76.

Maybe a check of the ACARS logs for that time might give you the rego Dan.
