Andy06 Posted January 19, 2009 Posted January 19, 2009 Hi guys just wondering if anyone knows the intended aircraft list for this years international airshow ! Youre help would be greatly appriciated ! cheers Andy.
Guest Capt Rex Kramer Posted January 21, 2009 Posted January 21, 2009 Well after reading an online article from the Geelong Advertiser that Boeing are the major sponsors and that 2 superhornets will fight it out in some kind of duel i fear we wont see any Raptors made by Lockheed martin the main compitition. I mean i am personally sick to death of seeing Hornets super or not!
Robbo Posted January 21, 2009 Posted January 21, 2009 I got something in the mail today not much info just free trade passes and saying there will be over 450 aircraft.
Andy06 Posted January 23, 2009 Author Posted January 23, 2009 Thanks Rex What about the F117 the yanks said would come last airshow yes im getting bored with it too, Same line up of aircraft nothing new to get us excited ohh well just wait and see what happens i quess Cheere Andy.
Guest Capt Rex Kramer Posted January 23, 2009 Posted January 23, 2009 Personally i would love to see the latest Migs/Flankers in action, how hard would it be to ask the malaysians to send them down for a display, yet we seem to hell bent and not offending the USAF. Watching Ricardo Travern put a Superhornet thru its paces is spectacular, (i watched in amazement a few years back as he flew a Superhornet in the shape of a square), but as i have mentioned before we are being treated as mugs down here in the way of variety of the big jets. people will tell you its all about distance, but we (taxpayer) are putting up a lot of money for the next big fighter jet contract so i think we deserve a bit more BANG for our BUCK.
Guest Steve R Posted January 24, 2009 Posted January 24, 2009 but as i have mentioned before we are being treated as mugs down here . When they suddenly realise that crowds are down 25% they might do whatever it takes to get something a bit special but while they get the crowds they do it'd never going to be a high priority for them, they'll be happy with whatever the Yanks want to send over.
Guest Magoo Posted April 21, 2009 Posted April 21, 2009 When they suddenly realise that crowds are down 25% they might do whatever it takes to get something a bit special but while they get the crowds they do it'd never going to be a high priority for them, they'll be happy with whatever the Yanks want to send over. Crowds were only down 9% in the end and this despite the weather, financial crisis, recent fires, and other competing events in Melbourne - not a bad effort I'd say!
Guest Capt Rex Kramer Posted April 21, 2009 Posted April 21, 2009 9% this year what about in 2 years time? i predict numbers will be down at least 30% if the they cant get some raptors or JSF 35's out here. Interstate visitors will be way down, not being prepared to risk the cost or put up with the always typical Victorian fowl weather spoiling the show, as i have stated in another thread lets get this show out of victoria and up to NSW OR QLD Aussies flying superhornets wont save it i'm afraid!
Guest Steve R Posted April 21, 2009 Posted April 21, 2009 So like I said Magoo, they'll be happy with the crowd they got in the conditions and in 2 years time it will be the same old display because they will have no incentive to make the effort to get something special over here.
