I just saw some contrails and an aircraft (at high altitude) over Perth at 6.30pm. It looked like a 4 engine Airbus A340 but I'm not 100% sure. Has anyone else seen this and can they confirm what it was?

No drama SQA380 at all, I shall move it.

Good question mate. You have me thinking.

Can you tell us a little more, what direction it was heading? I receive ACARS reports from Perth each day, so may be able to work it out. I will be away for the weekend, so please give me a couple of days.

Cheers,

Chainy

The aircraft was traveling in a south south easterly direction. It was white and looked like an Airbus A340.

SQA380, thanks mate, I assume she was in cruise (nice and high)? We have seen some strange flight paths in the last 24 hours. A SQ flight that normally overflys Sydney flew over Cairns!!

Yes she was nice and high producing 4 short contrails.

Now let me see, if it was 6:30pm WA time and IF she was heading to Sydney...then she would be arriving about errrr.

Just look on the radar between Adelaide and Melb/Sydney and I don't see anything that fits, yet. I still think Perff ACARS is probably the best option.

She was heading in more of a southerly direction. Towards Albany.
