Guest SQA380 Posted February 20, 2009 Posted February 20, 2009 I just saw some contrails and an aircraft (at high altitude) over Perth at 6.30pm. It looked like a 4 engine Airbus A340 but I'm not 100% sure. Has anyone else seen this and can they confirm what it was?
Robbo Posted February 20, 2009 Posted February 20, 2009 This should have been posted in spotting and commercial aviation and not in announcements.
Guest SQA380 Posted February 20, 2009 Posted February 20, 2009 Sorry. A moderator can move the tread if they wish.
Robbo Posted February 20, 2009 Posted February 20, 2009 No problems SQ :) I am sure Chainy will move it, thanks Chainy :)
Guest Chainsaw Posted February 20, 2009 Posted February 20, 2009 No drama SQA380 at all, I shall move it. Good question mate. You have me thinking. Can you tell us a little more, what direction it was heading? I receive ACARS reports from Perth each day, so may be able to work it out. I will be away for the weekend, so please give me a couple of days. Cheers, Chainy
Robbo Posted February 20, 2009 Posted February 20, 2009 Hmmm wonder where Chainy is sneaking off to, I better watch the news ! oh wait are you going to Albion Park ? :)
Guest SQA380 Posted February 20, 2009 Posted February 20, 2009 The aircraft was traveling in a south south easterly direction. It was white and looked like an Airbus A340.
Guest Chainsaw Posted February 20, 2009 Posted February 20, 2009 Hint Robbo... http://www.sharedmemories.com.au/smblog/ SQA380, thanks mate, I assume she was in cruise (nice and high)? We have seen some strange flight paths in the last 24 hours. A SQ flight that normally overflys Sydney flew over Cairns!!
Guest SQA380 Posted February 20, 2009 Posted February 20, 2009 Yes she was nice and high producing 4 short contrails.
Guest Chainsaw Posted February 20, 2009 Posted February 20, 2009 Now let me see, if it was 6:30pm WA time and IF she was heading to Sydney...then she would be arriving about errrr. Just look on the radar between Adelaide and Melb/Sydney and I don't see anything that fits, yet. I still think Perff ACARS is probably the best option.
Guest SQA380 Posted February 20, 2009 Posted February 20, 2009 She was heading in more of a southerly direction. Towards Albany.
