Guest Darren Masters Posted February 22, 2009 Posted February 22, 2009 Just got this email when I got home this evening re my flight home from Macau next month: Please be advised that Viva Macau flight ZG9501 23MAR09 has been retimed. This flight will make one transit stop en-route, at Denpasar Airport in Bali, Indonesia. Please see below for the changed travel pattern. 24MAR09 DEPARTING MACAU 2.00am 24MAR09 ARRIVING DENPASAR 6.50am 24MAR09 DEPARTING DENPASAR 7.50am 24MAR09 ARRIVING SYDNEY 4.35pm The flying times are: MACAU - DENPASAR 4 hours 50 minutes DENPASAR - SYDNEY 5 hours 45 minutes All times shown are local times This is an initial notification, we will follow up with an email with your revised ticket showing the new travel date/travel times, over the next few days. Hmmm, so instead of leaving when I was supposed to at 22.35 (local) it will now be at 0200 (local). I'm not overly fussed about it but does anyone know if the buses in Macau run late to the airport? I fly in to Macau from Saigon that same afternoon at 1310 and don't particularly want to sit at the airport for over 12hrs  Shame about the 1hr layover in Bali. Wish it would have been longer. Could have had a bit of a look-see (don't know about when in transit though). Are they likely to get us off the aircraft for that hr anyone know? It's quite good even getting to land there as I have not been there before. Most passengers would probably be spewing but I don't mind  Anyone know the reason Viva have decided to go via Denpasar?
Guest Darren Masters Posted February 23, 2009 Posted February 23, 2009 And the reason is: Hi Darren The reason for the changes is that our regular aircraft is going in for the required annual maintenance check. The replacement aircraft that Viva Macau has is a Boeing 767, but it is not as long range as our regular one and must stop en-route for refuelling. I thought they only had B-MAV and B-MAW? Will be interesting to see what the rego will be...
