Guest Darren Masters Posted March 4, 2009 Posted March 4, 2009 Well seeing as though Glenn made announcement about giving his pet snake away some time ago it's now my turn. This afternoon I had to part with my beloved rabbits and guinea pigs. I had some of them for quite a long time. The reason, obviously, was for my move to NZ. They wanted $1,500 for a rabbit with air freight and I had some 20 rabbits and guinea pigs so you can see the most logical option came into play. So quiet without them here now :frown: The sacrifices we have to make to become trolly dollys.
Guest graham lea Posted March 4, 2009 Posted March 4, 2009 In Peru I was offered baked guine pig for lunch - on its back with all the teeth grinning at me. I left the table and had a stiff wine.

Uum, yeah  I am aware it is a delicacy there. Don't know how they do it. I will be avoiding the 'exotic' foods in Vietnam next week and sticking to dog instead of grasshoppers etc.
Guest Chainsaw Posted March 4, 2009 Posted March 4, 2009 I'm not sure to respond to this thread. I feel there is no comment that could be deemed as 'worthy'...yea
Guest graham lea Posted March 4, 2009 Posted March 4, 2009 I found the food in Vietnam fabulous! I must admit I also go to a local vietnamese a lot and it too is great - fresh, light, clear flavours..Yummy!
Guest Michael Coates Posted March 4, 2009 Posted March 4, 2009 I am sorry, but what if you took them cleaned and frozen ? Bad taste, delete my post ! Do as the guy did a few weeks ago with the snakes.... Hey trolley dolley " Is that a Rabbit in your pants... or are you just happy to see me ?" In QLD there is a fine something like $5,000 for keeping a rabbit as a pet EVEN if its desexed ?? But you can still buy baby rabbits to feed reptiles ?? AHH... long day, must be time for bed when i start talking rubbish, big day tomorrow, Jacobs Well to Tooradin in a Sinus with a 30+ knot headwind.
bluebird121 Posted March 4, 2009 Posted March 4, 2009 I so wanted a pet rabbit .They make fantastic pets. but as I live in Queensland.. They are not allowed except for educational purposes and medical research. and you have to buy a licence.. That would not bother me but I wish they would change the laws so that we all have to buy licences to keep rabbits..that way only responsible folk will keep them. I may add that I had gerbils in the UK. I had to give them away and it broke my heart..again not allowed here either.
Guest Darren Masters Posted March 5, 2009 Posted March 5, 2009 Indeed they are prohibited in QLD. Looked into that some time ago. Graham, the food over there is indeed great. Enjoyed it during my last visit there last year. So much variety too and all usually very fresh.
Guest OzChris Posted March 5, 2009 Posted March 5, 2009 Sad, but so worth it Darren. Im sure they will go to great homes...just make sure the new caretakers are not from Peru  Michael - thanks I needed a good laugh :biggrin::biggrin:
Guest Darren Masters Posted March 5, 2009 Posted March 5, 2009 True Chris. You gave me an idea with the avatar and now I have changed mine. Cheers mate
