I suspect this topic may have been weel and truly covered BUT I can't find anything with the search function soI will ask the question.

 

Why am I not seeing more use if the Mazda Rotary engine in experimental Aviation ?

 

The power to weight ratio would surely be a great advantage, fuel injection,turbo or bi- turbo ( probably more things to go wrong).

Thanks for the tip, but that is actually where I started. I was looking for some feeback from the avaiation population in general as to its suitability and pitfalls.

there's a guy selling a cobra arrow with the mazda in it in the RAA mag

 

I think it's a bit fuel hungry but I don't know much

Rotary.

 

Some of the Cobra fuel figures claimed are a bit ambitious, I feel. They can be expected to fall somewhere between a good 2-stroke and a conventional aero 4-stroke. (specific fuel consumption, fuel flow per Horsepower hour) Reliability should be a strong point if things are done right. Nev..
