Guest Darren Masters Posted June 26, 2009 Posted June 26, 2009 We just made it in this morning from OOL (JQ 241 VH-VQD) as the fog had set in here something shocking. We were going to divert to Wellington but we were (thankfully) lucky enough. Would have meant a hotel stay in Wellington. Already quite a few flights running late. Saw Singapore 282 still at the gate when I got back. Will make for an interesting day (Saturday) here today!
Guest Darren Masters Posted June 27, 2009 Posted June 27, 2009 3news.co.nz Flights have resumed in and out of Auckland airport after fog caused disruptions and cancellations this morning. Airport spokesman Richard Llewellyn said the low-visibility status was lifted around 11am and flights had resumed. About 25 flights had been cancelled this morning and a number were unable to land, but the backlog was beginning to clear. It was up to airlines on how to proceed around disrupted and cancelled flights, Mr Llewellyn said.
nzom_pilot Posted June 27, 2009 Posted June 27, 2009 These delays and cancellations must be domestic flights, as AKL has Cat III ILS, and most international aircraft are equipped for Cat III.

Looks as though they were domestic although we were going to divert to WLG last night inbound from OOL due the fog.
Guest Darren Masters Posted June 27, 2009 Posted June 27, 2009 It's back again tonight. I must admit I love the atmosphere fog creates. Always have. Here are some shots I just took.
