Guest dmasnick84
Hi guys, I'm new here, and I'm wondering if you have any advice to share on which airline to choose to fly from Sydney to LA. My girlfriend and I are keen to have a short break from our ad agency jobs to see how much of LA we can see in less than a week. The amount of info for booking flights online is pretty daunting, so I thought I'd start here - you seem a friendly bunch! Let me know if I've posted this in the wrong forum. Are there any sweet return airfare deals going around at the moment, or do you have any horror stories of in-flight service from particular airlines? We're looking to spend as little as possible on the airfares (to leave more cash spare for shopping in LA..) - any advice appreciated. Thanks! - Dan
Guest Darren Masters
Dan, welcome to the forums. Mate, you may want to try V Australia or http://www.webjet.com.au is always good to compare fares. Keep in mind they have fees to use the website. When you do find a cheaper fare, go to a Flight Centre agent with a print out of your quote and they will beat it by $5. Not much I know but it's something to work with. Hope this was the information you were after.
Tim E
Hi Dan. I agree with Darren. Give V Australia a good look and if you can be flexible a little with dates you could get a great deal. I am planning the same trip as you. They have some great fares but also a great plane with probably the best seats for comfort, width and legroom..and good service from what I have been told. Qantas are worth a look too. United and Delta have great deals going too..though you might want to check www.seatguru.com and http://www.airlinequality.com. These sites have seating arrangements (seat guru) and also passenger reviews of seats and service (airline quality/Skytrax). After doing my research from these two sites and people I know, I think V Australia comes out way in front..but thats from my perspective. Good luck! Guest dmasnick84
Darren and Tim, your advice is much appreciated! I've been looking closely at V Australia, and found that they just launched a competition to recruit three friends to fly from Sydney to Los Angeles for three days. The competition winners are required to send one tweet every minute during their time in LA. 4,320 tweets in total! Crazy, but I think my friends and I are up for it. Since you're planning a similar trip Tim, I thought you may be interested in this. The 3 day trip starts on July 22, which is quite soon. The competition website is at http://4320la.com, and entrants' tweets feed through to the @4320LA account. My girlfriend and I are brainstorming some clever entries - we really want to win this! Best of luck mate, and thanks again for your assistance.
GAJab
You can get to LA for ~$900 at the moment on V-Australia. Pretty impressive.
