Guest Ryan M Posted August 10, 2009 Posted August 10, 2009 Perth to Brisbane Date: 06/07/2009 Flight No: QF598 Reg: VH-ZXA Type: Boeing 767-300ER Seat: 44K Class: Economy STD: 12:40 ATD: 13:15 STA: 18:55 ATA: 19:10 Gate: ** Can't remember  Well it was time for my holiday in Gold Coast. In the past year we have been busy with a heap of work and we thought that it was time for a holiday in Gold Coast. We arrived at the Airport at around 11:50pm, Check in was smooth.... for us.....The normal Economy class check in line was HUGE! The line went right up to Security and entire  Lucky that we are Qantas Club members and we get to check in with Business class  After check in we headed straight for the Qantas club right at the top. You get a great view of Departing/Landing aircraft up there, The thing that surprise me was when I sat next to the window, There was a Departing South African Airways A340-200 on RW21, I belive it got delayed big time.... (too bad I lost my camera just before we left :frown: Oh well better luck next time) Sitting next to me was a (guessing) 3yr old boy, me and him were talking about planes and where there off too, I was very surprised on how mature he was...LOL he was on QF768 though to Melbourne (with his Dad of corse...) At 12:55pm we were called to board QF598, It was a very wet and rainy day and VH-ZXA hasn't had a paint job in a while so she look her age (19) Everyone in my family (expect me) was very anxious because of this. Once we were on, we got the welcome message from the Captain and a F/A. The Captain said we would make up a bit of time due to the tailwinds and that our movie today would be "17 Again" We pushed back a little bit late and then had a long taxi to Runway 03. Take off was smoother than what I thought it was going to be that was until we got up to about 16,000ft then it started to get bumpy. So we were on a roller coaster ride before we even got the Gold Coast  Once we got up to cruise attitude, FL370 it was smooth and the Seat belt sign was turned off. Then dinner was served, which was out of Chicken str fry or pasta, I took the chicken, It was very nice but not the biggest meal I've had on Qantas The rest of the flight was uneventful until we started our descent at 18:45pm, it would turn out that our flight would be delayed for about 15mins due to heavy peak traffic at Brisbane. Once the Pilot lined up on RW19, it all looked smooth until.....one of hardest landings I've ever had  It appeared that the pilot landed the 767 manually....Ah well... After that we taxied straight to the Qantas domestic terminal and disembarked 5mins later. Overall, It was good service from Qantas, though the entertainment was pretty horrible considering were on a B767 for 4:30h, they could at least put some PTV's on the Flights operating out of Perth to the eastern states. Thank you for reading
Guest Darren Masters Posted August 10, 2009 Posted August 10, 2009 1 Nice report Ryan. Thanks for sharing again mate I think it is QF policy (aswell as with us at JQ) that they MUST NOT use autoland. I will double check. Someone else correct me if wrong. We have a real mix of landings at work. Some good, some very bad! I must admit you don't feel the really bad ones anywhere near as bad in the A320 compared to the 767.
