Guest Rob Mackay Posted November 16, 2009 Posted November 16, 2009 To all Australian aviators, As an outsider to aviation, I am truly amazed at the lack of activities that are being organised by the Australian aviation community. The Perth Mint have produced commemorative coins, Australia post will produce stamps, some pilots have leveraged the centenary for the purposes of promoting their airshows and rallies, and the Diggers Rest & Mia Mia townships are organising commemorative celebrations for you to attend. But, in general, the aviation community seems to be nonplussed about this once in a life time occassion. The UK, USA, and Canada airfields ran special events all around their nations to celebrate their time. Those events were not organised by their governments or other parties - they were ran by pilots. Are our airfields waiting for someone else to do something for them or announce that it is time to start planning their events? With only 122 days to go before the centenary and, with Christmas in between, it appears that many people will miss the opportunity that is presented. Please help me understand why your groups are not on the ball or send me the events that you are planning. Please wake up in time to do something about it. P.S. I hope that nobody takes offence to the above questions.
