Degrees Posted November 23, 2009 Posted November 23, 2009 Name your favourite Pre 80's commercial aircraft. Supposably the time of "real pilots", before fly by wire and pretty LCD screens. I nominate the B727. Any engineer or pilot who has had anything to do with it will rave about it. It's a true workhorse and continues to out perform other, more modern aircraft in its class. The only letdowns ofcourse being lousy fuel consumption and the huge noise it makes under power. Below is the one belonging to my school, It's doesn't fly anymore due to a compromised airframe it received upon decommission. :frown:
Guest Darren Masters Posted November 23, 2009 Posted November 23, 2009 Degrees, I would have to agree. The 727. I grew up with that bird! I used to love flying on the Ansett ones. To watch the DHL 727 depart here in Auckland and to listen to the noise she puts out is always a pleasure
