TT 5569 on 8/10/10 - did it fly?

Hello, I'm new to the forum (intro in the appropriate place) and hoping someone can help with a Tiger-related problem.

I was booked on TT 5569 (Darwin to Melbourne, dep 11.30pm) on Friday 8 October. I was staying some way out of Darwin, so called the airline six hours ahead to check if it was leaving on time, only to be told the flight had been cancelled. They offered to get me on the 5.30pm flight which was taking off as I was speaking to the call centre, so I declined and elected for a refund. This particular episode involved us missing our connecting flight the next morning from Melbourne to Canberra, and we've been through the insurance company on that one, and received a refund for that flight. (Tiger wouldn't refund it because the flight was operating as scheduled ...)

I've been chasing the refund for the Darwin-Canberra leg ever since - on the 8th of December I was advised that the refund would be processed by Friday 17th, and no mention of any problem. Today when I called them I was advised that the flight had taken off as scheduled (i.e. NOT cancelled), and there would be no refund.

So, whether or not the flight actually took off, we have them lawyered. It'll be better, however, if we can prove that the flight was indeed cancelled, so what I'm interested in trying to find out is whether or not the flight really took off.

I've already spoken to RAAF No. 44 Wing Detachment this evening to try to find out. They were very helpful but reported that the "strips" have been archived, and they're unable to assist with my enquiry.

I'm now hoping that someone on this forum has the contact to enable us to obtain the relevant record to supply to our lawyer and nail these cowboys. Like I say, if the flight did take off, their advice caused us extra expense and inconvenience. If it didn't, then they owe us the refund and our lawyer's fee to prove to them that they don't know where their own planes are.

Any and all assistance gratefully accepted.

Cheers,

Glenn Gore Phillips
