Hi all,

Due to significant health reasons, my time on TAA for the time being will be very limited.

I always read EVERY post each one of you put up (which I enjoy). I thank you for your valuable contributions.

I will try and post when I can.

If you are over 50, get regular medical checks. You need to maintain yourself as well as your plane.

Please fly safe...

Sorry to hear about your health problems ... You are right about check ups . I recently went through a rough trot . Fortunately after a stint in hospital , and biopsies etc. I have been given some good news , and it looks as if I will be around for some time yet to annoy everyone . I really do know what it's like , especially awaiting medical reports that may bad ..that sort of thing occupies your thoughts from morning till night , it did with me .... Try and keep your chin up ... I think you have my phone number, but anyway I will pm the details again ... Anytime you want to chat just pick up the phone ... All the best mate ..

Thanks for all your kind words guys. I actually don't know what my fate is yet, but am positive and calm in the mind. You can't control a plane if in a panic can you?

I have good days and bad days. Today, i'm prob at 65% so a good one.

I will try to pop up when I can.

Hi Chainsaw. Sorry to see you have developed some health issues. I know from experience that we can beat many of the challenges which throw themselves at us.

I was diagnosed with prostate cancer in June 2000, had a heart attack September 2001, I have artery disease, osteoporosis, arthritis, low blood pressure and two years ago suffered a minor stroke. But I'm still here and going strong. One of the reasons I joined TAA was to keep my mind off my problems by broadening my interests. I certainly agree with your advice to have medical check-ups regularly.I wish I had caught my prostate cancer before it became inoperable. I am only a newbie, but I know from responses of other members that you have many long-term mates thinking of you and wishing you well.

Best wishes, South Coast Sam.

Thanks Sam,

I am still breathing...just. I am quite ill and going in for a 12 hour long op in the next 2 weeks. They say it will take me 3 months to recover and then I will be facing the same op every couple of years. No, not the best, but I'm a stubbon and determined bugga. If you can keep DC3's flying, well then so can I keep going too! My condition is very rare (one in one million people). About 20 people in Aussie only.

I am quite positive (as Kaye would know how that works).

I sleep 3/4 of each day and all night. Very little energy left. Mind you I still manage to go outside and watch that plane I can hear fly over.

Safe flying all :)

Hey Chainy, been thinking of you heaps. When I went through the "big one" 3 years ago, this website and its members helped keep me sane. Had another minor scare in the last few weeks, but it was just a bit of gristle.

Sleep is good, the body needs sleep to heal. After your op I'm sure you'll be a new man. Keep your chin up, and let Mrs Chainy know she's welcome to call me if she needs someone to talk to, especially in the middle of the night!

Fellas, remember your health issues affect your partners too - so when they nag you to go to the doctor, just shut up and do as you're told!

Huge hugs, and healing thoughts.

Couldn't agree more ... Listen to your inner self , but more importantly , listen to the other half !!

All the best Chainy .. I've been thinking of you too ..

Hi Chainsaw. I'm new - this is just my second post. I am a believer, and know that prayer helps, so I will keep you in my prayers. It's a real bummer when your health is a problem. Keep doing what your doctors say - they know what to do. Wish you the best!

Hope all is well Chainy. Thoughts with you mate.

Anyone got news on our mate Chainy ? ... I have left a few messages on his home phone number , but no replies yet . I know Mrs Chainsaw must be very busy and not in any position to reply which is understandable , so has anyone any updates ?
