baumy Posted October 9, 2011 Posted October 9, 2011 So, I was coming back from Brisbane the other day and arrived in Melbourne in the rain. I saw a Qantas A380 taxiing to rwy 27. Now I didn't think the A380 could get off rwy27 in the dry, let alone get off in the pouring rain using only 2/3 of the runway. Does someone wanna explain?
Guest Chainsaw Posted October 10, 2011 Posted October 10, 2011 I could be wrong but I think I remember that OQA used that runway in testing. May not have much of a load though.
baumy Posted October 10, 2011 Author Posted October 10, 2011 Well it was a loaded flight. Don't know where it was off to though. May only have been Singapore, or the domestic services Qantas put in on the A380 so it wasn't full of fuel... it remains a mystery..
ben170292 Posted October 11, 2011 Posted October 11, 2011 i know the topic is A380 but yesterday i saw 2 or 3 744s land on it and also today saw another 744 take off from it
baumy Posted October 11, 2011 Author Posted October 11, 2011 Was it wet today out there? i haven't looked. But i mean this was in the wet that's what gets me!!
ben170292 Posted October 11, 2011 Posted October 11, 2011 extremely little rain, but i was disappointed because i couldn't get close enough to see/photograph them
baumy Posted October 11, 2011 Author Posted October 11, 2011 Okay. What were you doing out there? My photos aren't good according to airliners.net standards so I don't know what i'm doing wrong haha.
Guest Glenn Posted October 11, 2011 Posted October 11, 2011 Perhaps it was due to the wild weather - http://www.dailytelegraph.com.au/news/qantas-a380-to-make-first-domestic-voyage-to-clear-backlog-of-passengers-stranded-by-bad-weather/story-e6freuy9-1226151138288
ben170292 Posted October 11, 2011 Posted October 11, 2011 i was bored so just thought i would go out and have a look at the planes, im no good at photos either haha
