Military Control Column

Evening all!

I'm new here so go easy on me

I'v decided to start building a RV-8a,

I'v calculated all my prices and I'm about to place my order,

But I want to keep that real fighter feeling in it, with the tandem seating and military throttles and mixture levers, so I was wondering if anyone has a (or knows of a place i can get one) military control column, just as a bit of whimsical fun.

Obviously some of the buttons on them will be useless considering I have no A-A missiles :frown:

But I wanna get that real fighter feeling in it, sorta like a PC-9 type deal, I'v based my instrument panel off the PC-9. who knows, if I become a millionaire I may even put in a HUD

So i'm looking like a column like the F/A-18 has,

Hello Jay,

Things like that are a bit hard to track down in genuine form. Any old control sticks are usually snapped up by collectors or simpit builders. They're not cheap either. I can PM to you a couple of links if you like, one is ex RAF British stuff, the other American. They are worth keeping an eye on as they sometimes have control sticks, but not often. The British bloke currently has a Vampire column with no grips. An alternative would be to build a replica like the simpit builders do, but it takes a lot of time & you'd probably have to find someone who does cold-cast resin work to mould & cast the grips.

Here's a photo of one in the UK available. He bought it for an RV8 project & never used it. He has other RV8 stuff for sale as well. He was told it was a Mustang stick, but it's actually from an F86 Sabre.

Cheers, Willie.

Awesome willie,

Thanks if you can send those links for me.

The F86 one would be perfect, i'm not going to be overly fussy about it, there not easy to come by after all. But just something along a jet fighter stick would be great.

Cheers
