Chainy, likely this time. I work voluntarily as flight attendant also on the DAK ZK-DAK here in AKL and I'm sure she will be heading down :)

Hi Guys the first Time, travelled in a campervan 1998.Traveled the Sth Is.But because of the winding roads. And a new missus, lol.2010 we did the Kirra Tour self drive and stayed in hotels, for nearly 3 weeks.Drove a Corrolla.Realy nice small car.Its was amazing how much i remembered from the previous trip.As in the roads, towns etc.:)

I liked the campervan trip, because we stayed on the field at Wanaka. We had Gold passes.Gets realy cold though.

The weather on the Sat in 2010 reminded me of where I live here - brass monkeys! We hired a Britz motorhome and it was great. We stayed at the caravan park not to far away. Let us home we have a sunny one this time eh. We had Silver passes like this time.

I shall speak to SWMBO and see if the (jointly signed for) purse strings might be loosened to allow for Wanaka 2012. I take it then, that the period immediately following Wanaka involves the dreaded school holidays and the children theretowithin involved...?

Imagine what it's like for us as flight attendants when it's school holidays  Keeps me in a job I guess...

I was there a few days ago and was very disappointed to find the hangar partly demolished and its impressive new replacement closed. I was told that all warbirds except the Hurricane had been sold off. My trip was not wasted, however, as the nearby Toy and Machinery Museum is awesome. Several hangars full of vintage and classic cars, trucks motorcycles and aircraft, all mixed together. The expensive restoration process is being avoided: cars, planes etc. are taken into the museum as their rego expires.

That's a bit disturbing. Last time the flying program was great. My antenna is up.

The new hangar is very business-like and it looks like they intend to re-open a warbirds museum, but a nearby workman said the collection had been sold off except for the hurricane. Perhaps they intend to gather new exhibits...

If you get a chance, drive down towards Queenstown (another beautiful place) and head to Arrowtown. They have the BEST pies you will ever eat. Talking goat, venison and all sorts :)
