red750
Hi All, Can anyone please advise the registration of this Skydive C182 at Lilydale? The lettering under the tail is too small to read.

kaz3g
Hi All I'm an antique Auster driver -- the aeroplane and I were built the same year -- and I have a RAAus certificate as well as my PPL. I started to get serious in gliders in the 1970's and then power in the early 1980's. My Auster was built as an AOP5 with an 0-290 in 1944 and commissioned by the RAF in 1945.It spent some time in Germany and then went into storage until the airframe sans engine was purchased by Kimgsford Smith. He did the glass and tail mods, fitted a Gipsy engine and entered it on the Australian register as a J5D -- the only "Ajax" ever built. The aircraft now has an 0-320 160hp up front and I TAS at 100kn. My biggest trip so far was a 3500 mile adventure around the Centre in 2009 taking in Vic-NSW-Qld-NT-SA-Vic. I want to do WA before I die as I would like to see my old station in the Upper Gascoyne once more. My preferred rout is to go across from the Alice to Giles to Warburton and then Wiluna but I am currently stuck with just 120 L fuel capacity. I will have to buy a Little Buddy (40L auxiliary) and find a road to land on somewhere along the way, I guess. I work full-time for a community legal service and am based at a local court where I do advocacy at the bar mainly appearing in criminal matters (adults and kids), tenancy disputes and guardianship applications. It doesn't pay a whole lot but it's got its own rewards and it keeps the aeroplane flying :) kaz
Old Koreelah
Welcome, Kaz, looks like you and the Auster both have a few stories to tell! Lyle
Wayne T Mathews
Hey Kaz, welcome to TAA - you snuck in without an introduction, but your name is familiar..........Wayne I didn't know you had a soft side:) Hi Dexter, sorry I missed your comment earlier... We're not all as hard as you, Old Chap. Those of us what fly CG Taylor's aircraft might seem to be tough and of rare breeding. But deep down inside, no matter how hard we try to hide it, really we're gentle and caring souls. ;)
metalman
Apparently it is for sale. I do believe that they write the aircraft weight (in kilograms) on the windscreen of old meatbombers,,,,,that way it's easy to work out what the aluminium is worth in comparison to empty coke cans!
