Guest Darren Masters Posted November 12, 2011 Posted November 12, 2011 Went on a joyflight on the Schweizer 300CBI helicopter today at the A&P show down the road from home and after some chatting with the pilot he was nice enough to do some mountain flying and then the highlight of my flight to fly and hover over home so I could get some pics. Ofcourse I wanted the door off so this wish was also granted :) Below: ZK-IMX Below: Office of ZK-IMX Below: Who needs doors? Below: Clevedon township Below: Some mountain flying. So much fun! Guest David C Posted November 12, 2011 Posted November 12, 2011 Great shots Darren .. The only time I've flown in a helo was a trip over the Barrier Reef onboard a Squirrel . It was a very memorable flight and one that I have always remembered . I have toyed with the idea of a tif in a R22 , but I don't know , I have a few reservations about the Robbies .. Dave C

Guest DavidH10 Posted November 12, 2011 Posted November 12, 2011 My wife and I had a wonderful flight over the Fox and St Joseph Glaciers, with a landing on Fox, a few years back. Weather conditions were deteriorating and all the other helo companies were not flying. We were just lucky to find one that was, and it was the only flight of the day, as the top of the mountains socked right in as we returned to the helipad. During the flight, we had to dodge clouds, but it was just magic. His first attempt at landing resulted in a white-out and he had to use an alternate landing site. We didn't feel that anything the pilot did was unsafe. That experience is in my mind, one of the best flights I've had. Great shots Darren .... dazza 38 Posted November 13, 2011 Posted November 13, 2011 I have a similar story to David.Flew in a Huges 500 and landed on Fox in 1998. I have also been in a RAAF 9 SQN Iroquois as a Air Cadet.Mid eighties . 1989 I was a passenger in a RAAF Squirrel at Wagga Wagga, when I there doing my Airframe fitters course. We did what could be classed as aerobatics. The choppers where there from Nowra (I think).
