baumy
Does anyone know any of the details of the runway works currently being done on runway 9/27. NOTAM's say that ATC require at least 30 mins warning for use of taxiways. Slightly confused
Pete777
Just the weekly runway maintenance work that is carried out each Thursday at YMML. If you've set your heart on using 09/27 the workers need that time to clear and have it ready for use.
baumy
Ah that makes sense. Does that mean they can't use it as an active on maintenance days? Or do they just postpone maintenance till the wind changes?
Pete777
a notam goes out for a runway, but if the weathers playing up, their'll delay the closure, or swap runways, or cancel the whole thing. Yeah depends on the weather. Thursday is always a maintenance day for either of the runways, for the normal stuff of line markings, mowing, small light repairs. When maintenance is done on 16/34 it also depends which planes are due in or out, some prefer the longer one due to weight and pilot confidence, so it's normally closed later or it is reopened with that 30min warning for planes that request it, and that can happen a couple of times.
