I was watching a program on the Vickers Wellington bomber on the History Channel and it included a short film in which a number of volunteers gave up a weekend to attempt break a record and assemble a Wellngton in 30 hours. They started with the geodetic fuselage side panels and upper and lower surfaces, placing them in the jigs, assembling the wings, covering the lot with fabric and doping it, painting the lot, adding engines, undercarriage, gun turrets etc. The engines were cranked up and the aircraft took off and commenced its first test flight 24 hours and 45 minutes after construction commenced. They would have beaten 24 hours had it not been for a problem with a generator and one of the propellers.
